Chinese AI video startup Kling AI has reached an $18 billion valuation after raising nearly $3 billion in its first external funding round. The milestone ranks among the biggest fundraising events in the AI industry and gives the company fresh resources to expand its video generation technology.

The funding is believed to be the largest single investment round ever raised by an AI video generation startup. It also reflects growing investor confidence as demand for AI-powered video creation continues to rise across industries.

Developed by Chinese technology company Kuaishou Technology, Kling AI is an AI video generation platform that creates realistic videos from text prompts and images. The platform has gained recognition for producing high-quality videos and has emerged as one of China’s leading AI video models.

The Kling AI funding round attracted a strong group of global investors. Abu Dhabi-based BlueFive Capital co-led the financing alongside CPE and Guofang Investment. Other participants included Tencent, CITIC Securities, Baidu, Alibaba Cloud and more than ten additional institutional investors.

The participation of several leading technology and investment firms highlights growing confidence in Kling AI’s long-term potential. Their backing also reflects the increasing importance of AI video generation as businesses, developers and content creators adopt the technology more widely.

According to Kuaishou, the investment will support Kling AI’s continued growth as an independent business. The company plans to accelerate AI research, improve its video generation models and expand commercial adoption across more industries.

Why the Kling AI Funding Matters

The Kling AI funding reflects the rapid growth of the AI video market. Businesses now use AI-generated videos for advertising, entertainment, education and social media, creating strong demand for more advanced video generation tools.

Kling AI competes with leading AI video models, including OpenAI’s Sora, Google’s Veo and Runway. The fresh funding gives the company additional resources to improve its technology, expand its global reach and strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive market.

The investment also comes as Kuaishou moves forward with plans to spin off Kling AI into a standalone company. Following the funding round, Kuaishou ownership stake will fall to about 68%, giving the AI business greater financial independence as it enters its next stage of growth.

Kling AI has also demonstrated strong commercial momentum. The platform generated 650 million yuan (about $91 million) in revenue during the first quarter of 2026, underscoring rising demand for AI-powered video creation tools and helping justify its growing valuation.

With nearly $3 billion in fresh capital and an $18 billion valuation, Kling AI is well positioned for its next phase of expansion. The funding gives the company the financial strength to accelerate innovation, attract more enterprise customers and play a larger role in the future of AI-generated video.
