Unlike traditional satellite internet services, which often require specialised equipment such as antennas or terminals, direct-to-device technology is designed to work with everyday consumer devices. Amazon’s proposed service could support voice calls, messaging, data services, and emergency communication in areas beyond the reach of normal mobile networks.
