Apple introduces Apple Intelligence-powered Voiceover, AI captions, eye-tracking Vision Pro controls,

Apple is taking a different approach to AI, the company is putting AI directly into how people use their devices every day. With new Apple Intelligence features coming later this year to iPhone, Mac, and Vision Pro, Apple wants interacting with technology to feel more natural and less mechanical.

The updates focus heavily on the camera, voice controls, and reading tools  especially for users with disabilities.

One of the biggest changes is coming to Voiceover and Magnifier. Instead of just identifying objects through the camera, users will now be able to ask questions about what the iPhone is seeing.

For example, someone could point their camera at a recipe and ask:

  • “How many servings does this make?”
  • “What’s the cooking time?”

The phone can then respond based on what it sees on the screen or in the environment. Users can also ask follow-up questions without restarting the interaction each time.

Apple is also making Voice Control more conversational. In the past, users often had to use exact commands like “Tap button three” to move around apps without touching the screen.

Now, they can speak more naturally.

Instead of memorizing commands, users can say things like:

  • “Open the purple folder”
  • “Tap the map”
  • “Open the restaurant guide”

The system understands what’s currently on the screen and responds based on context.

Another feature, called Accessibility Reader, is designed to make difficult pages easier to read. It can clean up cluttered layouts, simplify multi-column articles, and make large blocks of text easier to follow.

Users can also generate summaries or translate text while keeping their preferred font size, colors, and spacing settings.

Apple also showed how Vision Pro’s eye-tracking system could help users control compatible power wheelchairs using eye movement and facial gestures. Support will launch with companies like Tolt and LUCI in the U.S.

Overall, Apple’s latest AI features feel less focused on flashy chatbots and more focused on making devices easier to use in everyday situations.

And that may end up being the company’s biggest advantage in the AI race.
