PalmPay Expands Digital Savings Features to Help Nigerians Combat Inflation

Leading African fintech platform PalmPay has expanded its suite of digital financial tools in Nigeria, introducing new high-yield savings features specifically engineered to help consumers preserve purchasing power amid ongoing economic pressures and rising living costs.

The cornerstone of the platform’s updated portfolio is the “Mega Savings Monday” initiative, powered by its third party banking partner, Flexi Microfinance Bank. The tool offers users a flexible, short term savings mechanism yielding up to 25% annual interest. Under the structured eight-day cycle, customers deposit funds on Monday and receive their principal alongside accrued interest the following Tuesday, with options to instantly withdraw cash or automatically reinvest.

This feature complements PalmPay’s existing everyday high-yield options, which offer up to 20% interest per annum with daily payouts, enabling users to turn small, regular deposits into structured financial growth.

Highlighting the strategy behind the expansion, Chika Nwosu, Managing Director of PalmPay, emphasized that modern digital banking must extend beyond simple money transfers:

“At PalmPay, we are focused on making digital finance more inclusive and valuable for Nigerians. This means giving customers convenient tools to pay, save, earn and manage their money in one place. Ultimately, we want digital finance to do more than facilitate transactions; it should help people get more value from their money and make every naira count.”

By combining automated recurring savings, daily interest yields, and fee free transaction features into a single mobile ecosystem, PalmPay aims to lower the barrier for millions of Nigerians seeking high value wealth-preservation tools. The expansion reflects a broader shift across the African fintech landscape, where digital platforms are rapidly moving from basic payment processing toward comprehensive, value driven personal finance management.
