GITEX Kenya to Host East Africa’s Largest Launch Event

Nairobi is preparing to take center stage in Africa’s technology conversation as GITEX Kenya 2026 gears up to host what organizers describe as East Africa’s largest launch event focused on artificial intelligence, startups, and investment capital.

Scheduled for May 19–21, 2026, the event will bring together global technology leaders, policymakers, venture capital firms, startup founders, enterprise executives, and digital innovators in Kenya’s capital, further strengthening Nairobi’s growing reputation as one of Africa’s leading innovation ecosystems.

The summit, powered by AI EVERYTHING KENYA x GITEX KENYA, arrives at a pivotal moment for the continent’s digital economy. Across Africa, governments and private sector players are accelerating investments in AI infrastructure, fintech, cloud computing, cybersecurity, digital identity systems, and startup ecosystems. Kenya, already recognized for pioneering mobile money innovation through M-Pesa, is increasingly positioning itself as East Africa’s gateway for emerging technologies and venture-backed innovation.

Organizers say the 2026 edition is expected to attract more than 15,000 participants from over 75 countries, alongside hundreds of startups, investors, technology companies, and institutional partners. The event will span multiple sectors, including fintech, healthtech, agritech, cybersecurity, smart cities, digital finance, cloud infrastructure, robotics, telecommunications, and enterprise AI solutions.

A major highlight of the summit is its international lineup of speakers drawn from government, global technology companies, banking institutions, AI research organizations, and venture ecosystems.

The event is also expected to provide a significant platform for African startups seeking funding, partnerships, market expansion, and global visibility. Through startup showcases, investor matchmaking sessions, innovation challenges, and strategic networking events, founders across Africa will have direct access to venture capital firms, accelerators, enterprise buyers, and international technology stakeholders.

Beyond startups and enterprise exhibitions, the conference will host high-level discussions around Africa’s AI future, digital sovereignty, infrastructure gaps, regulation, talent development, and the continent’s role in the evolving global technology landscape.

Industry observers believe the event could further accelerate Nairobi’s emergence as a regional technology powerhouse, especially as global tech firms increasingly look toward Africa for growth opportunities, digital talent, and AI deployment at scale.

The summit will also feature dedicated platforms, including North Star Kenya for startups and FDX Kenya focused on institutional finance and digital assets, creating a broader ecosystem around innovation, entrepreneurship, and capital formation.

Sponsors and ecosystem partners attached to the event include major players across telecommunications, banking, cloud infrastructure, enterprise technology, investment, and digital transformation industries, highlighting growing international confidence in East Africa’s technology market.
